Québec City, June 1, 2019 — On the eve of its annual Telethon, the Opération Enfant Soleil Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Julie Lemieux as Chief Executive Officer. She will replace Anne Hudon, who announced her departure in April after having held the position for the past four years. Ms. Lemieux will take office on June 25.
“Opération Enfant Soleil is a deeply moving cause. I have seen the small and large miracles the organization and its partners have performed for sick children and their families, and I am eager to join the team to contribute to the advancement of this vital cause. I am extremely proud to have been chosen to lead Opération Enfant Soleil, and I will devote myself to improving the quality of care for our children with determination and passion,” says Ms. Lemieux.
A holder of a Bachelor of Laws from Laval University, Ms. Lemieux initially pursued a career in the world of print media for 17 years. Elected city councillor in Québec City from 2009 to 2017, she served as Vice-President of the Executive Committee and was responsible for many issues, including culture, land use and urban planning, cultural heritage, communications and brand image and major cultural events.
In February 2018, she was hired as a consultant by the Musée de la civilisation to redefine the Musée de l’Amérique francophone. She was named Executive Director of the museum in January 2019, a position she will hold until her assumption of duties at Opération Enfant Soleil.
A proud mother of an 18-year-old young woman, Ms. Lemieux is also a co-leader of L’effet A and a trustee of the Fiducie du patrimoine culturel des Augustines.
“Ms. Lemieux is a caring woman who shares the core values of our organization: togetherness, transparency and solidarity. Her compassionate approach, experience and network will greatly contribute to our continued growth, which allows us to provide the best possible care to all Quebec children. The board members join me in welcoming her,” says Pierre Bolduc, Chairman of the Opération Enfant Soleil Board of Directors.
